Suffolk VA Labs Within LILRR Program
- Foster Pix -
Pictures are coming in from Fosters of the 19 Suffolk VA Labs that came into LILRR. All are becoming robust and learning what fun it is to live with humans. The belly to the ground, nose to the wall terrified and shy, are slowly coming out of their fragile shell (fosters take it very slow and easy with socialization and training, not to overwhelm or intimidate with too much too fast). At first fearful of the simplest dog toys, all are learning why t-balls, Kong's and boodas exist. Having lived isolated chained to their tree or dog house on the back side of 34 acres, they are learning to respectfully interact with other dogs. Almost every one of these young adult Labs are socially less equivalent than a 6 or 7 week old Lab pup but they are smart, happy and eager to learn and (like all Labs) thrive on praise. Each is a sweetheart and want to love and be loved. We hear that house breaking has been, surprisingly, a breeze. Some have started leash training (all but two had to be carried everywhere). Not all Fosters have internet access or digital cameras but send pix when film is developed - check back for more later!
